Snow Removal Financial Assistance Program
East Gwillimbury offers a Snow Removal Financial Assistance program to help seniors and residents with disabilities cover snow removal costs during winter. Eligible residents who hire a service provider to remove snow from their driveways and/or walkways over the 2025 to 2026 winter season will be eligible for a $150 financial grant. 75 grants will be available for this pilot program.
Apply by April 15, 2026.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for the program, the applicant must meet the following:
- Be 65 years of age or older at the date of application or be an applicant with a permanent physical disability.
- The owner or primary renter must occupy the property on which the application is made.
- Not have claimed a credit on any other property for the same winter season.
- Not live in a condominium dwelling whereby all snow removal is the direct responsibility of the condominium corporation.
- Only one application per municipal address will be approved.
- Only 75 grants are available for the 2025/2026 winter season.
How to apply?
Applications will be accepted in-person at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street), East Gwillimbury Sports Complex (1914B Mount Albert Road) or Health and Active Living Plaza (160 Jim Mortson Drive) until April 15, 2026 during regular facility hours.
Applicants are required to bring the following documentation with them when applying:
- Print and complete the application form.
- Proof of age (65 years and older) such as a birth certificate, driver's licence or passport
- Proof of disability (for residents 64 years and younger) such as a provincial disability permit or a note from a doctor (on doctor letterhead).
- Proof of payment to a service provider for all of or part of this winter season.
- Proof of residence using a property tax roll number or utility (water) bill.
If you are unable to print the document at home, please bring all the required identification and proof of disability (if under 64 years of age) with you, and a Customer Service representative will assist you with completing the form. Printed copies of the application form are available at the Civic Centre, Sports Complex, and both library branches.
