Sign Permits
Effective October 7 2025, the Town of East Gwillimbury has updated our Sign By-law, this new By-law replaces Sign By-law 99-44 (as amended).
Sign permits are required for the majority of signs, unless otherwise specified in the By-law. The purpose of this by-law is to regulate the placement, size, and appearance of signs within the Town to ensure a balance between commercial needs and community aesthetics.

Please be advised certain signs may also require a Building Permit issued by the Building Department - Building Permit.
Sign permit processing times may vary based on the type sign application is completed fully and the complexity of a sign review. For simple sign reviews (ex. mobile signs), the process time may take up to 10-15 business days. For more complex sign reviews (ex. electronic signs), this process time may take longer due to the circulation to multiple departments.
