Skateboard Parks

The City of Thunder Bay has seven skateboarding parks throughout the City with varying degrees of difficulty.

Sleeping Giant Parkway

Hours:

Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features a unique combination of world-class skateboarding terrain, locally inspired art installations and casual socializing space. Specific design highlights include:

  • Nearly 25,000 sq. ft. total area
  • A completely customized skate-able re-creation of the Sleeping Giant
  • Use of local stone work on key ledges and walls
  • Authentic "Classic California" style pool bowl
  • Seamless integration into the surrounding park and trail system

Location: On the north end County Boulevard behind Our Lady of Charity school.

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features two levels for skateboarders including a pyramid, rails, and boxes.

Location: 450 Dewe Ave., on the east side of the Current River Community Centre

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features a cement pyramid and rails.

Location: 330 Toivo Street at John Jumbo Playfield

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features a trail system combining jumps and challenges for beginner to advanced BMX riders.

Location: At the end of Royal Canadian Legion Drive behind Delaney Arena

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features a cement pyramid.

Location: 1841 Mountain Rd., at South Neebing Community Centre

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features two levels for boarding and wood structures.

Location: 915 Edward St. South, next to railway tracks at the north end of the West Thunder Community Centre

Hours: Open 6 am - 11 pm, seven days a week

Features cement structures for boarders.
