Youth Move is for anyone between the ages of 10 to 18 looking for ways to get involved in their community, make some new friends and try different activities. Youth Move has drop-in sites and registered special events. See below for more information.

Youth Week 2026

Every year from May 1st - 7th is a special time for us at Youth Move as we celebrate YOUTH WEEK! Get ready for an action-packed week featuring events tailored to youth ages 10 - 18. Please register for all the events below on Perfect Mind:

1. Youth Week Opening Brunch @ 10:30am-12:30pm [42206]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

Kick off youth week with brunch. Spend the morning enjoying good breakfast, vibes , and even better company to introduce the rest of the week! Come grab some breakfast, connect & learn about all the Youth Week events and services available to YOU.

2. Mario's Bowl @ 6pm-8pm [42207]

Striking into youth week! For our first official event, we are hitting up Mario’s Bowl for bowling and fun! Feel free to bring money for snacks while you bowl.

1. The Rock Room @ 2pm-4pm [42208]

Rock your Youth Week at the Rock Room. Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned rock climber, come with us to Thunder bay’s newest rock climbing facility!

2. Canvas and Clay session 1 of 2 @ 6pm-8pm [42213]

Location: 106 Simpson St.

Session 1 of our Canvas and Clay activities invites you to BUILD your pottery. Shape your own pottery piece from clay. No experience needed - just bring your imagination! *Must be available for session 2 on May 7th to finalize.

1. Complex Pool Party @ 2pm-5pm [42214]

Location: Canada Games Complex
Splash into day 3 of Youth Week. The fun continues at the Canada Games Complex- swim, play games, and hang with friends as we keep the youth week energy up!

2. Countdown Escape Room @ 6pm-8pm [42215]

Escape the Ordinary. Join us for an escape room adventure at Countdown. Think your team can solve the puzzle and beat the clock? Only one way to find out!

1. Floor Hockey with Mushkiki @ 4pm-5pm [42216]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

Join us for an action-packed afternoon of floor hockey hosted in partnership with Mushkiki. Whether you're a seasoned hockey player or trying it for the first time, come to Kinsmen for some friendly competition, teamwork, and fun.

2. Archery with TBPS @ 6:30pm-8pm [42217]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

Archery night with the Thunder Bay Police Services. Take aim and try something new! Join us for
an evening of archery hosted in partnership with the TBPS. Officers will be on hand to guide you through the basics in a safe, fun, and support environment.

3. Beading with Sara @6pm-8pm [42218]

Location: Minnesota Park (Art Widnall Pool)

Visit our very own Youth Move Specialist, Sara Gilbert at Minnesota Park for a relaxed and creative evening of beading. Learn the basic beading techniques and make something of your own to take home!

1. FWHP Muskets and Cannons 4:30pm-6pm [42220]

Location: Fort William Historical Park with free bus transportation available from Kinsmen Youth Centre*

Get ready for a blast from the past- literally! Join us as we head over to the Fort William Historical Park for an exciting afternoon of history and muskets & cannons in action.

2. YES Employment Resume Building Workshop 4:30pm-6pm [42253]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

Join YES Employment for a hands-on resume building workshop designed specifically for youth. Learn how to write a standout resume, highlight your strengths, and get feedback to help you land your first job, maybe sooner than you think.

1. Superior Science Coding Workshop 4:30pm-6pm [42254]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

Join Superior Science for an interactive coding workshop — no experience necessary. Learn the basics of coding, build something cool, and see how science and technology come to life. Whether you're a future programmer or just curious, this workshop is for you.

2. Staff VS. Kids Dodgeball 6:30pm-8pm [42255]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

It's the moment you've been waiting for all week! Team Youth vs. Team Staff – dodgeball bragging rights are on the line. Can the youth defend their title (or finally take it)? Or will the staff prove they've still got moves? Only one way to find out.

1. Bannock Pizzas with Mushkiki 4pm-5:30pm [42256]

Location: Kinsmen Youth Centre

We're closing out Youth Week the best way we know how — together, around the table, with good food and great company. Join Mushkiki Foundation for a hands-on Bannock Pizza Night. You'll get to make your own warm, fluffy Bannock from scratch, then top it with your favourite ingredients and cook it up fresh.

2. Canvas and Clay Session 2 6pm-8pm [42213]

Location: 106 Simpson St.

Session 2 of our Canvas and Clay activities invites you to PAINT your pottery. Add colour and design to your creation. We will fire it after and finalize your masterpiece! *Must have attended Session 1 on May 2nd.

Spring 2026 Drop-In Sites and Hours

Youth at Kinsmen Youth Centre

Location: 609 James St. N

Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday: 3:30pm - 7:30pm

Wednesdays - Teen Nights (Ages 14-18): 6pm - 8pm

Our drop-in @ Kinsmen offers youth a fun spot to hang out, participate in scheduled activities, and have a dinner alongside other peers. We have on-site Specialists who can support with mentorship and recreational fun! *Rink use encouraged in the winter.

Location: 820 Minnesota St (Art Widnall Pool Building)

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 3:30pm - 7:30pm

Our drop-in at Minnesota offers youth a fun spot to hang out after school, participate in scheduled activities, and have a dinner alongside other peers. We have on-site Specialists who can support with mentorship and recreational fun! *Rink use encouraged in the winter.

Location: 420 Winnipeg Ave

Tuesdays: 6:30PM - 8PM

*Bathing suits required

Join us at the Complex on Tuesday evenings for a FREE swim! Our staff will be on-site to play water games & swim with you!

Location: 1134 Roland St

Thursdays: 4pm - 6pm

Are you up for a new craft? Or cooking experience? Visit our recreational program at the new Youth Wellness Hub site on Roland St. for featured events that we'll be hosting every Thursday this fall/winter. For a full schedule of events at the Hub, visit our Instagram!

Fridays: 3:30pm-6pm

Have you heard the latest buzz? We enjoyed our summer at OLC, so we're sticking around during the school year to offer after-school youth programming on Fridays. Grades 4-6 are encouraged to join us after school for a little snack & recreational break before enjoying their weekend! See you then!

Special Events

Youth Hike

Youth Move has a variety of events for youth to check out throughout the year. To register for any of our special events please visit our easy-to-use online registration option through PerfectMind! Registrations can also still be taken by phone at 625-8463 (hotline). For more information, email us at: youthmove@thunderbay.ca.

Things to know

Participant Information Forms are required for all youth and can be found at any of the Drop In sites or Special Events or can be sent via email by emailing youthmove@thunderbay.ca .

Youth Move programming is nut safe – any food sent from home must be nut safe.

Youth may sign out at any time. Guardians are to disclose on their Participant Information forms otherwise.

If your child has a disability, we welcome them to come with a PSW or support may be provided through Junior Inclusion Services.
