Roads and Active Transportation
Roads
The City's Roads and Engineering Divisions maintain our roads and sidewalks. Check out the latest road work updates and whether heavy load restrictions are in effect. Find out where to park and learn about our traffic signal pedestrian and crossing system, roundabouts and crossing guards. The City also outlines our snow removal system during the winter months and provides an opportunity for residents to report potholes.
Street Sweeping
Street sweeping removes sand so it does not hinder visibility of road line markings, keeps the lanes clear for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, reduces the risk of damage to vehicles, and keeps road sand out of our rivers and lakes. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use extra caution when travelling near a street sweeper.
Each year, neighbourhood zones are randomly prioritized from 1 to 11 in the North and from 1 to 10 in the South, and swept in that order. Check the maps below to see where your neighbourhood falls in the sequence this year.
If you have any questions about street sweeping, please contact Dispatch at 807-625-2195.

City Roads crews began the midnight street sweeping shift today, operating from 12am to 8am, Monday through Friday. Work will focus on downtown core areas, arterial roads, and bike lanes, and is expected to continue for the next three to four weeks. Following this, crews will transition to daytime operations to begin residential street sweeping.
